Here’s the TL;DR if you don’t get around to reading my article : It doesn’t have an enticing narrative, isn’t as well-researched, and is based on the present. This is my observation, though anecdotal, backed by a concrete example. In said example, Chat GPT continues to prove that it “can’t code its way out of a paper bag”, so to speak. Nor will it give me useful advice to help me do it myself. I was worse off, in fact.
And that’s just for my hobby project; my day job often consists of problems much more nuanced or esoteric (or both).
I guess I won’t understand Chat GPT as a job security threat until someone explains in detail how they plan to address the issues I’ve encountered. For now, with all due respect, your article reads as science-fiction to me. But hey, maybe that’s ignorance on my part.
