Many good practices are subjective, but the important part is that your team can align on, or at least “live with”, a list of good practices that are essential for the product’s success. What is more objective though, are code quality practices which are proven to reduce common anti-patterns. Many companies which fail to use best-practices to reduce otherwise preventable issues, all seem to have the same myriad of internal problems and technical debt.

Originally when writing this article I linked several of my other articles, especially in section 4, to go more into detail and better provide context. Unfortunately, the editors have found that it doesn't meet their guidelines to link to my other articles, and have removed them all before publishing.
