It has been said that (meaningfully) naming variables and functions is one of the hardest parts of (good) programming. And even if you’re very thoughtful and deliberate at making it sound useful, people can still nitpick at what they thought it meant – some words trigger different contexts for certain people.

Perhaps what you mean by this statement is: “your naming of variables and functions are often problematic for others to understand”.
